Illustrator of the week - Linn Olofsdotter

Linn Olofsdotter's illustrations are totally out of this world. Her strange, surrealist imagery completely transports me to some other place where only these interesting creatures exist. Her illustrations have so  so much going that you really have to stop and stare at them for a while. The more time you spend with with them, the more you discover. Look closely at the bottom left image and you'll discover that her shoulder area is actually some kind of sea creature. Or look at the woman with a cigarette and you can see references to Dali and Marcel Duchamp's "Fountain".

Linn Olofsdotter, originally from Sweden, has explored many mediums before solidifying her career in the illustration field. She was educated in Europe and the US in advertising and design, has lived in Brazil, and currently calls Portland home.

Linn is represented by the super cool agency, Snyder & the Swedes, that I posted about a while back. Her work can be seen on a variety of fashion campaigns, editorial, and advertising.

Abandoned House

A while ago, Victoria over at sfgirlbybay posted about the 100 Abandoned Houses Project photographed by Kevin Bauman. I found the photos to be so beautiful that it kinda made me want to move to Detroit, buy one of these gorgeous homes and bring it back to its former glory. Alas, I love SF too much so I did the alternative which was to order a limited edition print of house # 86 (pictured here). I got my print the other day and it's so pretty I can't stop looking at it.

The price of the print was very reasonable, but the best part is that a portion of the proceeds of my purchase will go to an organization like Habitat for Humanity or The Greening of Detroit, doing positive work in Detroit or in other cities around the country.

Photographer of the week - Alexandra Grablewski

I've had Alexandra Grablewski's website bookmarked for a very long time hoping that someday I will get to work with her. Until that day, I visit her website often to admire her work and get inspired.

Alexandra, a NY based photographer, is probably best know for her yummy food photography but she also shoots stills, lifestyle, kids, and travel. Her gorgeous photography has appeared in magazines like Gourmet, Martha Stewart Living, Real Simple, Better Homes and Gardens, and Wine Spectator to name a few, as well as in many books and advertisements.

Snapshots From The Set - Summer Cooking

Last week I had a couple of really awesome food photo shoots, and it was all thanks to a bunch of incredibly talented people. Sheri Giblin and Erin Quon. You're both super and a blast to work with. We totally rocked those soups!

I also had the pleasure to work, for the first time, with the very talented Maren Caruso. Thanks Maren for the beautiful pictures and for having such a wonderful team to work with. Thanks Kim Kissling for making the food look and taste amazing, and for finding the most gorgeous heirloom tomatoes and peaches in the middle of winter. Finally, thanks Ethel Brennan, prop stylist extraordinaire, for totally nailing the mood and styling of this shoot.

I was truly a pleasure to have worked with you all and can't wait to do it all over again soon.
